Today, the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce announces that the Chamber’s Political Action Committee has recommended an endorsement of Charleston businesswoman Betty Ireland and Morgantown business owner Bill Maloney in the Republican Primary for the Special Election for Governor of West Virginia.

“Several of the candidates in the Republican primary are very well qualified to be our next Governor. We have endorsed Bill Maloney and Betty Ireland because both are leaders in the business community and understand the struggles of starting and growing a business in West Virginia like very few people. We believe if selected as the Republican nominee, Bill Maloney or Betty Ireland will be able to wage an effective and aggressive campaign this fall,” said Steve Roberts, President of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
Roberts added, “We are impressed with all of the Republicans competing in the Republican Primary. We know and like Delegate Mitch Carmichael, Senator Clark Barnes and Putnam County Prosecutor Mark Sorsaia.”

Also today, the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce announced the endorsement of Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, who has been acting as Governor, in the Democratic Primary for Governor of West Virginia.

The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is the largest pro-jobs advocacy organization in West Virginia. Its members are located in every county of the state and employ over half of West Virginia’s workforce.
